Hello there,
I recently noticed a flurry of 5-star reviews on a rather obscure cotton long leg panty we carry by Calida. To my surprise, it had over a hundred reviews and almost all were 5 stars (more on our reviews below). I started reading them and learned this item is the perfect solution to wear under summer skirts, shows no panty lines, is super comfortable, and is the solution to “chub rub” – inner thigh rubbing. I, therefore, bought one and tried it under a slinky silk dress. It was fabulous. And that got me thinking about the many other great cotton items we offer that you may find useful as the temperature continues to climb.
Note: I had my studio team photograph every bra and sleepwear item on the same model, size 32C, so you can see consistent proportions for each item.
1. Calida – Comfort Stretch Cotton Leg Panties
2. Lunaire – Coolmax® Underwire Sports Bra
Though classified as a sports bra, most of you are wearing this 20-year best-selling Lunaire underwire as an everyday bra because it breathes, provides great support, and is very comfortable. The back is made of mostly cotton, while the cups and their lining are made of Coolmax® which not only breathes, but wicks moisture as well, making it dry five times faster than cotton. It may not be glamorous looking on, but you’ll be glad you’re wearing it when stuck somewhere hot.
3. Anita – Comfort Jana Cotton Soft Cup Bra
Here’s the winner for women looking for a cotton bra in larger sizes. Again, mostly cotton, this Anita wirefree bra also has nice, wide, padded straps for added comfort. Worth pointing out is the underband, which is anatomically designed to prevent pressure against your upper tummy. But, if you’re short-waisted, you’ll be better served in a bra that’s bandless.
4. Glamorise & Leading Lady – Wireless Front Closure Bras
These two cotton leisure bras from Glamorise and Leading Lady have been best sellers for many years. Their support is relaxed, with a front closure, wide straps, and breathable cotton content. Both are a super comfortable solution while lounging, binge-watching, and even sleeping. The Glamorise style number 1908 has a racerback design. The Leading Lady style number 110 has less breast coverage and also claims it can securely hold nursing pads. Both styles have stretchy cups, so one size fits multiple cup sizes (review our size charts). Also note, neither has strap adjustability.
5. OnGossamer – Cabana Cotton Bras
The OnGossamer brand is famous for its Cabana Cotton line of bras and panties. Made in the highly prized Peruvian pima cotton – extra long cotton fiber – they are beyond soft and comfortable, while also having a very lightweight hand and some sheerness. Their sizing focus is limited to 32A-38D only.
6. La Perla Souple and Aubade Bahia & Moi
There are also very pretty and glamorous cotton alternatives. Both La Perla and Aubade have a cotton collection with matching panties.
7. Bali – Full-Cut-Fit Stretch Cotton Briefs
Hands down, this Bali brief is the best-selling cotton panty on the market. It’s a full brief with a bit more room added in the back to keep you covered when sitting down. It’s value-priced at 3 for $26 and can also be purchased in a 3 pack.
8. Only Hearts – Organic Hi-Cut Bikini Brief Panty
Sales are showing there’s a renewed interest in panties with very high-cut leg openings. This Organic Hi-Cut Bikini Brief Panty by Only Hearts tops the list. Their Organic Cotton Collection uses pure, organic, pima cotton that has been brushed till super soft. And, Only Hearts takes “organic cotton” seriously, so their products are produced according to standards set by the Global Organic Textile Standard and the Ecological and Toxicological Association of Dyes and Organic Pigments Manufacturers.
9. Jockey – Elance Classic Fit Brief Panty
Another very popular cotton choice are these Jockey 3 packs. If you want color with your cotton, this classic fit brief is your answer. And, this brief has a little bit wider crotch than most coming in at 3-1/4”. Jockey also makes other cotton styles.
10. Maidenform – Dream Cotton Boyshort Panty with Lace
For those of you preferring a boyshort in cotton: here’s the one. Its wide lace waistband is no-pinch and no-dig. And the leg hem of this Maidenform boyshort brief is non-binding as well.
11. Hanky Panky Cotton with a Conscience
Hanky Panky is so much more than just thongs. First, they are committed to manufacturing solely in the USA with sustainable materials. Their “Cotton with a Conscience” Collection uses Supima® cotton responsibly grown in the Southwest USA and produced under the CottonLEADSSM sustainability initiative. Their products in this collection not only include panties, but bras, and camisoles as well.
12. Skin Lingerie
A fairly new brand called Skin came onto the market in 2003. Designed by a former All-American Track Champion living in Wisconsin, Susan Beischel was raised around natural fabrics. Her design viewpoint is “The Art of Sensual Living” and organic cotton is her favorite due to its purity and lack of pesticides and chemicals. Her Skin brand includes panties, sleep, tops and bottoms.
13. Hanro of Switzerland
No discussion of cotton undergarments is complete without mentioning Hanro. It is the finest quality cotton lingerie on the market. Only the finest long staple cotton yarns are used, which imparts a shiny look and silky feel to all their cotton knit products. They have perfected seamless knitting technology that uses a circular knitting machine that can knit at the finest level. Their knit cotton is, therefore, light weight, comfortable, durable, and stands the test of time. It is well worth the investment.
So, these are my call-outs, but HerRoom has many, many more cotton options. For a more comprehensive cotton list, here are some links: Cotton Bras, Cotton Panties, Cotton Camisoles, Cotton T-Shirts, Cotton Sleepwear, Cotton Slips.
A Final thought…
For those of you who read our product reviews before purchasing, you’ve learned that ours are different. It’s sort of a dirty little secret that reviews can be stuffed, bought, shared, and basically fabricated to present a positive spin on products. And, many sites are paid money for placing specific products in their advertising. Well, not at HerRoom. All product reviews are written by our customers and are unique to HerRoom. Each is screened and, in many cases, responded to. Specific to our product category, we are up against two challenges: the unfortunate statistic that 70% or more of women are wearing the wrong bra size, and the recent phenomenon that many have gained the “Covid 20”. So, please know that a review left complaining about fit is always carefully considered and responded to. Since we fit-test all our products, we have a solid basis to respond to fit complaints.
Fondly,
Tomima Founder & CEO HerRoom.com
